Additional Axis & Allies Europe Information
|
Axis & Allies Europe is the first Axis & Allies extension created by the original A&A designer, Larry Harris. He likes to call it "a whole new puzzle to solve." A&A Europe takes place only within the European theater where four powers (Germany, USA, USSR, and Great Britain) struggle on the continent, in the Atlantic, and across North Africa and the Middle East.
Most of the rules will be familiar to Axis & Allies players. A&A Europe does add new pieces (artillery units and destroyers), new ways to take IPCs from the enemy (by occupying naval supply lines and taking over the oil fields of the Middle East), and expanded rules for Strategic Bombing Raids.
Plus, all of the pieces in A&A Europe are countryspecific. The fighter units are not generic fighter planes but the U.S. P38 Lightning, the Soviet Yak, the German Stuka, and the British Spitfire.

What Customers Say About Axis & Allies Europe:

I have always been interested in WWII and strategic board games. Axis and Allies Europe fulfills expectations once you take the time to learn the game. This game exercises your intelligence by examining your ability to strategize, think ahead, and know the person you are playing. It is basically Risk on steroids.
My grandson wanted this game for his birthday and I was lucky to find it on Amazon. My grandson totally loves this game, not to mention that the pieces are very tiny.---haydais
Sure, you can use the substitute chips, but then how do you know later on if they are supposed to be soldiers, troops, tanks, or airplanes. Unlike the original, this game does not come with the necessary amount of pieces to even set the game up. This game for me is un-playable. It would be indistinguishable. Germany, for example, does not even have enough soldiers to put one in each of it's territories, thus they cannot start the game. How can you play this. I was extremely upset when I opened this and tried to play my first game. Don't waste your money on this, buy the original Axis & Allies instead.
Germany begins with an awesome force, but has a lot of British ships to sink and needs to get ground in the USSR. I don't understand why some people think the original A+A was a better game. The rule that gives you 12 IPC to allocate units whereever you want in the beginning assures variety.I play this game with other players that played the original since the 80's. It was so annoying in the original game when someone was losing and then started spending all their money trying to roll heavy bombers (in desparation). In summary, all our games have been pretty close. It takes 2 hits on the same turn to sink a battleship, which makes them very powerful and worth their cost. This game is so much better.
Britian and the USA need to sink the German subs and stop Germany from overrunning Russia, Africa, and the middle East. This game is much more balanced. Russia is under pressure from the Germans. I think Germany might have a slight advantage in this game, but not much. The allies need to plan and cooperate a lot better in this game (as opposed to the original where it's impossible for the Axis to win with experienced players).Removing the technology rolls for this game was a great idea. Great game. Also, in this game, battleships are actually worth building, unlike the original game.
Subs are much more powerful in this game too, since they are no longer sitting ducks for planes (Planes need a destroyer escort to attack subs). This game is light years better than the orginal A+A game, although I'd recommend that a newbie start with the original game.
This game is truly immersive and indepth, however it is one of those games in which you need to read the "How to play book" carefully in order to truly understand how to play.Once you learn how to play this game it offers you immersive gameplay, and a way to look at WWII from a more interesting point of view.If you like the other A&A or other games like Risk you should find this game worth your while. It may be a bit pricy, but it is worth the money if you have someone dedicated to play with you.
